What About an EV Will Surprise You Over a Gas Car

An EV can be a whole new experience for some drivers, especially when first seeing a car like the VinFast VF8 or VF9 and noticing that they look slightly different from gas-powered vehicles. EVs allow designers to be slightly more creative in various ways, especially since they don’t have to worry about cooling an engine with lots of grilles and holes. Wait, Can I Jump-Start the Main Battery?

No. Keep in mind, when we say jumper cables or a portable jump starter, we are specifically talking about for use with your car’s 12-volt battery, not the main battery that provides propulsion and driving power to your car. All vehicles need a standard 12-volt battery that runs simple things in your car, such as lights, air conditioning, etc.

What Type of Jumper Cables Should I Get?

While there are rules on the gauge of the jumper cables you should buy when it comes to different-sized engines in gas or diesel vehicles, those don’t really apply the same way to an EV. However, because you’ll be jumping your battery off a non-EV, it’s best to carry a set of 4-gauge jumper cables; this way, they’ll work well with any engine size.

What Jump Starter Should I Buy?

Portable jump starters have become all the rage, which has led to a rash of mediocre products. There are some notable and more reliable brands like Noco, GooLoo, and a few others. A popular YouTube channel called Project Farm has done a couple of reviews on popular and well-priced portable jump starters. The owner and face of the channel does not take sponsorship money, so all the reviews are honest. Some jump starter brands offer all-in-one jumpers with tire inflators and device chargers. Most can be plugged into 12V sockets or USB ports in the car to charge.

Should I Buy Any Special Tools?

How To Keep Your Car Cool In The Summer

We here at Ewing VinFast of Plano don’t have to tell you that summer’s almost here. With daily temperatures already hitting the high 70s and low 80s, it’s only a matter of time before the blistering heat is here to torture us. Luckily, you can easily keep cool in the depressing heat of the summer with the VF8 and VF9 thanks to some helpful tips and tricks, as well as some great features to keep you and your pets from any heat-related issues.

Keep Your Range Up

First and foremost, always make sure to keep your battery between 20% and 80% of charge. Not only will that help keep the battery in your VinFast in tip-top shape, but it will also ensure that you aren’t worried about any range issues on hot days. Granted, EVs are actually very good in the heat and often provide excellent driving range.

Pet Mode

When your VinFast is parked, you can enable Pet Mode on the 15.6-inch infotainment screen if you are leaving your vehicle for a minute and have an animal in the vehicle. Not only will your car keep the interior at a constant, comfortable temperature for your pet(s) and your belongings, but it will also display a message on the touchscreen that lets people know that your loved one is safe, thanks to the vehicle being in Pet Mode.

Camp Mode

If you are parking your car outside and need to leave it basking in the disappointing summer sun, you can always choose to buy some solar-powered car exhaust fans. One lesson our grandparents tried to teach us was to leave our windows cracked ever so slightly on a hot day to let some of the heat escape the car while it’s sitting still. But then you run the risk of inviting different critters and bugs that may be looking to beat the heat or create a nest. Instead, an exhaust fan hangs on your car window with it closed and creates a tight seal. There are little fans inside that run to try and suck hot air out and exhaust it from the exterior of the device that is pointed outside.
