Why You Should Buy an EV

VinFast VF8 Plus Driver Front View

VinFast VF8 Plus Driver Front ViewFor most car buyers, there is almost no real reason why they can’t or shouldn’t buy an EV. Ten years ago, there weren’t as many charging stations, there weren’t a ton of options outside of a Tesla, and range anxiety was still a thing. However, with companies like VinFast offering luxury EV experiences at a modest cost, there has never been a better time to buy or lease an electric vehicle.

VinFast VF8 Plus Navigation and Apple CarPlayThere’s Nothing Like a VinFast

As we have covered many times, the VinFast VF8 and VF9 offer some of the best bang for the buck when it comes to features, style, and luxury for the price. The mobile app is especially great, as you can use it to pay at nearly all charging stations. Most other cars require you to store your credit card information in the charging company’s mobile app.

Driving Range

Both VinFast models also have good driving range, with the VF8 able to travel up to 264 miles in the Eco trim and 243 miles in the Plus. The VF9 will get drivers 330 miles in the base Eco and 291 miles in the Plus. The days of range anxiety are pretty much over, as it’s very easy to find a charging station. If you are traveling cross-country, the navigation system will keep charging in mind as it maps your route.

VinFast VF8 Interior View with HUDHead-Up Display Is Standard

Unlike most cars currently on the market, all VinFast vehicles come standard with a HUD, or Head-Up Display, which shows you your driving range, media information, current speed, and navigation settings. Some luxury EVs offer this as an option on higher trim levels, but even the base VinFast Eco models provide it for free.

Driving An EV Is Proven to Keep You Calm

Driving down the road in an EV is a more peaceful experience than riding in a noisy gas-powered car. EVs are engineered to let less wind and harsh road noise into the cabin, and multiple studies show that drivers often report being calmer and more relaxed in their EV, even when in bumper-to-bumper traffic. Have you ever been chipper while only being able to creep along at five mph on the highway on your way to work or back home? Well, EV owners say they are.

VinFast VF9 Front Side ViewBest Features

Some of the best features of a VinFast are features like Camp Mode, which allows you to keep the interior at a specific temperature while you sit in the vehicle for whatever reason. You could be using the in-car WiFi to do work, make phone calls, have a video meeting, or actually camp out in your car. Other features include Pet Mode, which allows you to leave your car with your pet(s) safely inside with air conditioning or heat running and a message on the 15.6-inch infotainment screen that lets passers-by know that your four-legged baby is safe and that you will be right back.

VinFast Sony RideVu Front DashSony RIDEVU

The most unique feature of any EV, and even more special since it’s currently only available on VinFast vehicles, is Sony RIDEVU. Sony RIDEVU allows the vehicle’s occupants to watch 2,000 movies and TV shows in the Sony Pictures Entertainment library and archives. If the car is in park, content can be shown on the infotainment screen, or users can stream content on their phone, tablet, or laptop when hooked to the in-car WiFi.

The World’s Best Warranty

By far, though, the absolute best reason to buy a VinFast is the world-class warranty that no one else offers. A 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty ensure that your VF8 or VF9 is protected for many years to come without you ever having to worry.

What About an EV Will Surprise You Over a Gas Car

VinFast VF8 Driving on the Road

VinFast VF8 Driving on the RoadAn EV can be a whole new experience for some drivers, especially when first seeing a car like the VinFast VF8 or VF9 and noticing that they look slightly different from gas-powered vehicles. EVs allow designers to be slightly more creative in various ways, especially since they don’t have to worry about cooling an engine with lots of grilles and holes. But, there are way more things about an electric car that will surprise you in good ways. Let’s take a look.

VinFast VF8 Frunk StorageAcceleration Like You’ve Never Experienced

When first getting into a VinFast, you’ll notice that there isn’t a traditional shifter, and you don’t have to put your foot on the brake to ensure the car does not roll when put into drive. Instead, you need to press the accelerator pedal to make the car move, and it will not move until you do so. There is zero lag or loss of power between the throttle pedal and the battery system. A gas car needs gas to flow into the engine, spark, and then use that as momentum to create momentum. A battery is simply on or off, and pressing the “gas” pedal initiates the “on” that moves the car. The immediate thrust felt when you fully depress the accelerator is all of the vehicle’s torque surging all at once. There is no other feeling like it, except maybe the escape velocity of a rocket heading to outer space at 25,000 miles per hour.

VinFast VF8 Charging at a Public ChargerSimple Maintenance

Now let’s talk maintenance. A VinFast, or any other electric vehicle, does not require a routine oil change every 5,000 miles. There is no oil in the cars to change, so that’s one major service you can completely forget about. An internal combustion engine needs coolant to stay cool, and because of this, you need to change that fluid at least every couple of years. However, an EV only uses coolant to keep the batteries cool, so when your car’s brought in for service, the technicians will simply check the coolant level and top up if needed. There are also fewer ways for coolant to leak from an EV than from an ICE car.

VinFast VF8 Wheel DetailBrakes Last Much Longer

Overall, an EV requires much less maintenance than a conventional gas car. For instance, the brake and power steering fluid do need to be flushed and refilled during a regular maintenance interval. You will, in turn, spend much less money because an EV’s brakes last much longer. Thanks to the technology discussed further down, the pads and rotors can last upwards of 100,000 miles.

VinFast VF8 TouchscreenRegenerative Braking

When stopping with an EV, you will notice that, like any other car, the brakes work as they should. But the brakes of an electric car do something very clever. Every time you tap the brakes in a car, you are losing kinetic energy, so engineers and scientists created a procedure where, when braking, the lost energy is captured by the car and sent to the battery to feed it that extra energy, which in turn adds to the vehicle’s range.

Couple getting into a 2025 VinFast VF9Shhh….

A big thing that first-time electric vehicle owners report is how quiet their car is. Because there is no engine that combusts and rattles, or an exhaust that sends harmful emissions out of a tailpipe, an EV is like sitting in a room when everyone’s left the house, and it’s just you sitting in a chair enjoying the silence. EVs have also been engineered to allow less wind and road noise into the cabin, further enhancing this serenity.

The World’s Best Warranty and Care

There is genuinely nothing like an electric vehicle, and especially nothing else on the market like a VinFast. With their 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and the industry’s best 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty, you will be taken care of in every way. No one protects their car more than VinFast, and it shows in how much customers love the after-sales experience.

VinFast VF8 Drgnfly eBike DisplayWhat’s an e-Bike?

For those that don’t know, an e-Bike is simply a bicycle with a small electric motor attached to assist the rider with extra power and performance. So, you can pedal the bike as usual and use the motor to ride around without using pedals when you’re ready for a relaxing ride.

What Is the New VinFast Drgnfly?

The new VinFast Drgonfly features a continuous 750-watt motor integrated in the rear wheel and a 48-volt 14Ah battery that can be recharged in under 6 hours. Weighing in at only 70.5 lbs, the e-Bike is made from aircraft-grade aluminum with wide handlebars and balloon tires that are 20×4-inches for optimal riding comfort and stability. VinFast says the bike comes standard with Tektro hydraulic disc brakes that are meant to work great in all sorts of riding conditions, especially when it’s rainy and wet out. For those who like to take a nice moonlit ride, the bike features front and rear LED lights and integrated reflectors. The DrgnFly also has a mode called Pedal-Assist, which allows you to pedal the e-Bike while riding to get in a bit of a workout. VinFast offers the DrgnFly with a 2-year, unlimited-mile warranty.

This means there’s no need to fear your Drgnfly being stolen or messed with while it’s charging in public areas.

Range and Speed

When traveling at full throttle at 18 mph, VinFast says the Drgnfly will run for 32 miles before needing to be topped up, and 47 miles at 12 mph. However, in Eco mode, the Drgnfly can travel up to 68 miles with a top speed of 15.5 mph. The company says the top speed is set to 20 mph but can be unlocked for a higher speed.

What To Include In A DIY Emergency Kit

Emergency Kit for the Car

Emergency Kit for the CarNo matter how prepared you are in life, something can always go wrong when you least expect it, especially when driving on the open road. Your level of preparedness can make a difference in a rough situation. That’s why Ewing VinFast of Plano has compiled a list of a few must-haves for a DIY emergency kit to keep in your VinFast.

New VinFast VF8 Front Passenger SideVinFast Roadside Assistance

Every VinFast VF8 and VF9 customer has access to 24/7, 365 roadside assistance that is available to you anywhere. If you have a flat tire, a dead 12-volt battery, or are stranded in any other way, the roadside assistance crew can help you. However, what happens when you are in a desolate area? They’re on their way, but it will be a while. That’s where having an emergency kit ready to go can save you time, money, and frustration.

Jump Starter Boosting a BatteryWhat is Usually in an Emergency Kit?

There is no shortage of pre-built emergency kits that you can easily pick up from places like Amazon, Walmart, or Harbor Freight. Most simple kits go for $20 and will include some gloves, jumper cables, a flashlight, and maybe some adhesive bandages. You can also buy a kit that’s $50 or more that’ll have all those things, plus a tire inflator, a tire repair kit, a complete first aid kit, and some reflective triangles, among other things.

Healthy Snacks for a Road Trip and Emergency KitYour Lifestyle Will Dictate Your Kit’s Needs

Let’s say you have a VF8 and enjoy going camping. In that case, you may want to include a few things in your emergency kit that you wouldn’t normally use if you’re stranded on the highway. Things like water, non-perishable snacks like nuts, popcorn, jerky, dried fruit, and the like would be some extras you might want to add to your DIY emergency kit. If you live in a colder climate, having a blanket of some sort would be beneficial. If you live in a hotter climate, you’d want to have sunscreen and bug repellent on hand instead.

Can I Build My Own Emergency Kit?

Deciding to go your own way and put together a kit that better reflects your needs is always a wise choice. While building your own kit will probably run you closer to $100 or $200, it could genuinely be a lifesaver. You can go to Harbor Freight and get an 11, 12, or 15-inch tool bag for $10 or less, or if you’ve purchased a drill from a well-known tool brand, you may already have a bag you can utilize for your car. Using an old backpack or small duffel bag is also a great option to save on cost. Here are the main things you should have in your emergency kit: jumper cables; flashlights and headlamp; road flares or reflective triangles; proper first aid kit with scissors, gauze, bandages, and medications; good tire repair kit; tire inflator that plugs into a 12v socket; tire sealant; and a portable jump starter that you can charge in your car and use to jumpstart a dead 12v battery.

Jump Starter Boosting a BatteryWait, Can I Jump-Start the Main Battery?

No. Keep in mind, when we say jumper cables or a portable jump starter, we are specifically talking about for use with your car’s 12-volt battery, not the main battery that provides propulsion and driving power to your car. All vehicles need a standard 12-volt battery that runs simple things in your car, such as lights, air conditioning, etc.

What Type of Jumper Cables Should I Get?

Most emergency kits will come with jumper cables that are usually 8 or 10 feet long, but we recommend looking at a set that is at least 12 feet long. While there are rules on the gauge of the jumper cables you should buy when it comes to different-sized engines in gas or diesel vehicles, those don’t really apply the same way to an EV. However, because you’ll be jumping your battery off a non-EV, it’s best to carry a set of 4-gauge jumper cables; this way, they’ll work well with any engine size.

Jumper CablesWhat Jump Starter Should I Buy?

Portable jump starters have become all the rage, which has led to a rash of mediocre products. There are some notable and more reliable brands like Noco, GooLoo, and a few others. A popular YouTube channel called Project Farm  has done a couple of reviews on popular and well-priced portable jump starters. The owner and face of the channel does not take sponsorship money, so all the reviews are honest. Some jump starter brands offer all-in-one jumpers with tire inflators and device chargers. Most can be plugged into 12V sockets or USB ports in the car to charge.

2025 VinFast VF8 DrivingShould I Buy Any Special Tools?

With regard to having an EV, since they are much less like gas-powered cars, it is probably best to leave any wrenching to experts in the service department at Ewing VinFast of Plano or the roadside assistance technicians.

Having Something for Just in Case Is Never a Bad Idea

Whether you buy a pre-made kit or assemble it piece by piece, it is better to have something than nothing. The last thing you want is to be stuck in the middle of nowhere or on a dark highway alone, waiting for help.

Make Your Car Ready to Work from Anywhere

2025 VinFast VF9 Front Side View

VinFast VF8 Front Side ViewWorking from anywhere but the office has been a popular thing to do for a long time now. However, since the Covid-19 pandemic, it has become mandatory to find a good place to work diligently and efficiently while staying healthy. Owning a VinFast allows owners to truly take advantage of their vehicles and anywhere they can safely park to get work done.

VinFast VF8 Rear Seats with Charging PortsPlenty of Ways to Charge Devices

Whether you use your phone, a tablet, or a laptop to get your work done, both the VinFast VF8 and VF9 will make sure you have plenty of ways to keep your devices fully charged. Each vehicle comes standard with multiple USB-A ports for each section of seats, but also a 90-watt USB-C port that is able to charge many different types of laptops and tablets that utilize USB-C charging ports. Your laptop probably has a USB-C port for charging, which is pretty much standard these days.

A WiFi Hotspot for More Productivity Out and About

Connect your mobile device and laptop to the VF9’s WiFi hotspot to get work done. Whether you are sending e-mail, doing video meetings, or updating your colleagues, you’ll be able to stay connected while out and about.

2025 VinFast VF9 Second Row ViewFind Ways to Make Working in Your Car More Comfortable

When working in your car, you’ll want to find a cozy spot to get some things done. Sitting in the back seat or popping open the hatch and hanging out in the cargo area are two great ways to chill out with your laptop. To have your laptop on a flat surface, consider a lap desk off Amazon, which will cost you anywhere from $20 up to $50 for a nicer one. If your device uses USB-C to charge (and since there is a 90-watt charge port for the rear seats), you’ll want to buy a six to ten-foot charging cable so you’ll have plenty of reach no matter where you are in the car. You may even want to look into getting a phone mount that sticks on the windshield, sits in the cupholder, or attaches to a vent. This way you can easily do video conferences without having to worry about holding your phone.

Since the VinFast vehicles are electric, you can take advantage of features like “Camp Mode,” which allows you to use a little bit of the car’s battery to set the interior temperature, use the infotainment screen, and charge devices while sitting still.
