The VinFast VF8 is Helping To Change How We Enjoy Our Cars

2025 VinFast VF8 Front End Driving in the City

It wasn’t that long ago that one of the chief complaints from EV haters was that they couldn’t drive far enough on a full charge. Now, though, there are more than 40,000 Level 3 DC fast chargers and nearly 200,000 Level 2 chargers. This means that driving across the country has never been easier for owners of a VinFast VF8. Not only can you charge from 10% to 80% via a DC fast charger in about 30 minutes, but you can also stay at a hotel with Level 2 chargers in the parking lot and charge your car overnight.

The Freedom to Drive Anywhere

VinFast takes pride in owners taking their cars on road trips, which is why the VF8 has a healthy EPA-rated 256 miles of range for the base Eco and 235 miles in the Plus trim. That’s roughly 4-5 hours worth of driving. And at that point, you’ll want a break. It’s approximately 300 miles from Plano to San Antonio, or 239 miles from Plano to Tulsa, Oklahoma. So, with that in mind, you can go pretty far on either a full charge or stopping once to add some juice.

Sony RIDEVU Will Keep the Passengers Relaxed

Add in the ability for passengers to enjoy Sony Pictures Entertainment’s library filled with 2,000 movies and shows via the free Sony RIDEVU service, and instead of hearing “are we there yet?” you’ll be hearing pure silence as everyone’s glued to their phone, tablet, or laptop watching the same thing or different things while using the in-car WiFi hotspot.

Cost To Charge at Home

When charging your car at home, you can expect to pay around 10-15 cents per kWh per 1,000 kilowatts. Because the VF8 has an 87.7 kWh battery, you will spend $13 at the highest 15 cents per kW if you are charging from 0% battery. Because most people usually only use about 50% of their battery during the day, that means you’ll spend about 6-7 dollars charging your car every night.

Estimated Costs Charging on The Go

When on the go, things can get a bit more expensive, however. For instance, a Level 3 DC fast charger in Texas costs about .362 cents per kWh according to AAA. So, charging from 10% should cost you about $25-$30. But if you are staying at a hotel or visiting friends at a shopping mall or downtown area, you’ll likely have access to Level 2 chargers, which are less expensive. Hanging out with family and friends for about 3 hours will allow you to charge from 35% to 80% battery on a Level 2 charger that’s charging at 15 kW. This means your total “fill-up” cost will run you about $10 or so. Some areas even have free public chargers.

Range Anxiety Is a Thing of The Past

Driving an EV long distances used to worry people. Range anxiety was a real thing for some owners. But now, that’s genuinely a thing of the past, especially since your VinFast will let you program your destination into the standard navigation system, create a route that accounts for the need to charge, and direct you to those areas on your way to your destination. Traveling with an EV couldn’t be easier.

What Are the Differences Between the VF8 Eco and VF8 Plus?

2025 Vinfast VF8 Plus Interior

2025 VinFast VF8 Front Side View on the Beach

Many EVs seemingly have so many options and trim levels that it can be a nightmare to decipher the differences. Oftentimes you’re looking at one trim level that is priced too high for you, wishing the trim below had one or two of the options you want. This isn’t the case with the VinFast VF8 as it has two trim levels, Eco and Plus. Both offer similar features with some differences. If you’re trying to decide between the two, let’s break them down.

2025 Vinfast VF8 Plus Interior

What Both Trim Levels Have in Common

First, let’s talk about the things that both trims have. The 2025 VinFast VF8 Eco and Plus share the same dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup with an 87.7-kWh battery pack. They both offer 48 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and an extra 2.7 cubic feet in the front trunk (frunk). Both have a standard Head-Up Display (HUD) and can tow up to 4,000 pounds when properly equipped. The VF8 can charge from 10%-70% in just 31 minutes on a Level 3 fast charger.

Better Standard Features than any set of EV SUVs Around

Both models feature excellent ways to charge devices, with four total USB-A ports (two front and rear) and a single USB-C port that charges up to 90 watts. They offer a 15.6-inch touchscreen display that handles all of the functions for the car and also displays movies from Sony RIDEVU when parked. With the in-car WiFi hotspot, passengers can use a smartphone, tablet, or laptop to connect to the internet and watch up to 2,000 shows and movies from Sony Pictures Entertainment.

VF8 Eco

The 2025 Eco starts from $39,900 (not including any other fees) and has 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. It has an EPA-estimated range of 256 miles on a single charge and can get from 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds, according to VinFast. Even as a base model, the VF8 Eco has 19-inch wheels, where most EVs that are priced to appease will have 18s.

Eco Interior Features

For under $40 grand you get vegan leather seats with an eight-way power and heated driver seat and a six-way power and heated front passenger seat. The steering wheel is also heated and is four-way manually adjustable. An eight-speaker sound system is also standard for Eco models.

VF8 Plus

The 2025 Plus model is priced from $44,900 (again, not including any fees) and has 402 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque with an estimated range of 235 miles. VinFast says the Plus model will get to 60 mph in under 5.5 seconds (a bit faster than the more range-conscious Eco). Stepping up to the Plus adds standard 20-inch wheels and a Panoramic sunroof.

Plus Interior Features

While vegan leather is standard in the Eco, the Plus model gets premium vegan leather with a 12-way power, heated, and ventilated driver seat and a 10-way power, heated, and ventilated front passenger seat. The heated steering wheel has four-way power adjustability. The Plus has memory functions for the driver and auto-dimming side mirrors. When you are ready to bump some tunes on your drive or listen to the sweet sounds of a Sony RIDEVU movie or show when parked, the Plus has a 10-speaker premium sound system with an added subwoofer.

No Warranty Like a VinFast Warranty

While you decide on which trim level is best for your budget and needs, there is one thing you will not have to decide on. Each new VinFast comes with a 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty with the added bonus of a 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty. Talk about peace of mind.

Top Seven Questions People Have About the VinFast VF9

2025 VinFast VF9 Front View

2025 VinFast VF9 Front ViewWhenever a new vehicle comes out, it is customary to have some questions—especially when it’s a vehicle that’s debuting for the first time, like the VinFast VF9. Since its debut, people have been wondering about the VF9, considering it’s one of only a few true three-row all-electric SUVs, and it costs considerably less while still packing the similar features, a better warranty, and amazing leasing options. So, let’s take a deep dive into some questions you may have about this brand-new family EV SUV.

What Is the VF9?

The VF9 is a three-row SUV that runs completely on electric power. Unlike some other brands that tend to confuse and then intimidate buyers with a dozen trim levels and a thousand options, VinFast has chosen to keep it simple with just two trims: the Eco and Plus. Eco models will give owners 330 miles of range, while the Plus model delivers 291 miles. Both models come standard with dual motors, a 123-kWh battery, and all-wheel drive with 402 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque. Between its power and range, the VF9 is able to compete well against other SUVs in the market, whether gas, hybrid, or electric.

New VinFast VF9 Interior Dash ViewHow Much Does the VF9 Cost?

The VF9 has a starting price of just $69,800. When compared to vehicles like the Kia EV9 that starts at $56,395, you need to spend more than $70,000 to get a model with options that rival the VinFast. While most automakers try to lock people into a cheaper vehicle with fewer options and less value, VinFast offers the VF9 pretty much fully loaded as a base Eco model, which includes a Head-Up Display (HUD), something the EV9 only includes on the top trim that will have you spending nearly $80,000.

What Kind of Tech Does the VF9 Have?

When it comes to technology, there is no other SUV of its size that has what the VF9 has. The VinFast VF9 comes standard with a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen display that allows the driver and front passenger to see and change pretty much everything about the vehicle. With Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, the VF9 gives owners the freedom to use their preferred system.

More Technology

Probably the most amazing piece of technology in the VF9 is Sony RIDEVU. Sony Pictures Entertainment provides RIDEVU as a way of giving VinFast customers the ability to watch 2,000 different Sony-owned movies and TV shows either on the main 15.6-inch infotainment screen when the vehicle is in park, or on any device that is attached to the in-car WiFi system. There are six standard USB-A ports with one 90-watt USB-C port, which means two per row. When captain’s chairs are optioned, passengers will find two extra USB-A ports in the center console.

2025 VinFast VF9 Drive ButtonsHow Fast Can the VF9 Charge?

The VF9 has the ability to charge from 10% to 70% in just 35 minutes when using a Level 3 DC fast charger. And thanks to the VinFast smartphone app, you won’t have to download every single public charging company’s app, as most of them are built into the VinFast app, allowing you to get charging quickly and easily. Also, it’s one less place that’s storing your sensitive payment information that can be hacked and stolen.

Does VinFast Make a Charger, or Do I Have to Find One?

Yes, VinFast does have its own charger that you can buy. In fact, it is one of the more affordable and advanced chargers on the market. The VinFast charger features a max power of 12 kW, or 240 volts, and 50 amps. The VinFast charger allows you to use WiFi, Bluetooth, or ethernet to connect to the charger and monitor the vehicle’s state of charge. Using the VinFast mobile app, the vehicle’s state of charge can be tracked easily from anywhere. As a Level 2 charger, the VinFast Home Charger is eight times faster than plugging the vehicle into a standard 120-volt wall outlet.

2025 VinFast VF9 SeatingHow Safe Is the VF9?

Safety features are one of the top reasons why buyers choose one car over another. The VF9 comes standard with 11 airbags, along with Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Highway Driving Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Centering Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Automatic Emergency Braking, Intelligent Speed Recognition, Traffic Sign Recognition, Forward Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Detection, Door Opening Warning, Front Automatic Emergency Braking, Emergency Lane Keep Assist, Front Parking Assist, Rear Parking Assist, backup camera, Automatic High Beam, and a 360-degree Surround View Camera system.

Is the VF9 Big Enough for My Family?

Size matters when you’re talking about vehicles that are being purchased for use by families. The VF9 does not disappoint, as it can seat up to seven people. With the third row in place, customers will have 7.48 cubic feet of trunk space and 32.7 cubic feet with the third-row folded down. Plus, there is an extra 3.5 cubic feet of space in the front trunk, or frunk. The VF9 can also tow up to 4,000 pounds, which means you can take your family and some jet skis to the lake and have a great time for the day, or pull a modest camper for a nice trip away from home.

A Warranty Like No Other

When thinking of buying or leasing a VinFast VF9, it is important to know that no other automaker has a better warranty. While most EVs have a five- or ten-year warranty for the car and battery system, the VinFast VF8 and VF9 are the only vehicles that have a 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty.

2025 VinFast VF9 Rear ViewThe Best Leasing Special You’ll Find

Right now, VinFast is offering the VF9 for just $599 a month with ZERO dollars down for 24 months, with 10,000 miles per year. Oh, and you also get the $7,500 federal tax credit; name another EV that is this inexpensive with all the standard features available. In our Dollars and Cents comparisons, the VF9 always seems to come out on top simply because of what it offers buyers compared to the competition.

The company’s first three-row SUV, the VF9, is soon to arrive at Ewing VinFast, which means we need to take some time to introduce this model to customers properly. The VF9 is available in two trim levels, Eco and Plus. Eco models will give owners 330 miles of range, with the Plus model offering 291 miles, which means that as a larger, 3-row SUV, the VF9 can compete with some of the best electric and gas-powered vehicles of similar size. Both models come standard with dual motors, a 123 kWh battery, and all-wheel drive with 402 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque. Unlike most SUVs on the market, the VF9 comes standard with a Head-Up Display (HUD), so drivers never have to take their eyes off the road to see navigation information, range, music, etc.

Both trim levels offer a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen display that comes with Sony RIDEVU. VinFast VF8 Interior Prioritizes the Driver

2024 VinFast VF8 Interior view of front seats, dash, infotainment, and steering wheel

Cars in the modern era feature so many different distractions for drivers. There’s an infotainment screen, sometimes a thousand buttons, or an extra screen in place of the buttons. Then, there is an entire gauge cluster display, a thousand chimes, and bongs that all mean something different. The VinFast VF8, however, prioritizes the driver and their comfort.

One Screen to Rule Them All

Instead of a mile of displays across the dashboard, the VF8 gives the driver and passenger just one screen to worry about, a standard 15.6-inch touchscreen display that not only shows all of the pertinent information while driving but also the ability to customize the display and what apps and widgets you prefer to be displayed and where on the screen. It is very much like an iPhone or Android smartphone. This way, you know exactly where to reach when you need to go into a program like your navigation maps or search through your podcasts and music.

2024 Vinfast VF8 Sony RideVU heads up display featured in the front interior dash

HUD Is Standard Here

Also standard on all VinFast VF8 trim levels is a beautiful head-up display that gives drivers precisely what they need to see. This includes the vehicle’s speed, range, navigation information, and more. A HUD is the ultimate safety feature that so few EVs include. For instance, Rivian, VW, and others do not offer a head-up as standard, nor is it even an optional extra on any of their electric models. Statistically speaking, when there is less need to look around the cabin of your vehicle or just glance down at your speed for a second, there are fewer chances that you will be involved in a traffic accident.

Sony RIDEVU

Another feature that is overlooked is in-car entertainment. With RIDEVU by Sony Pictures Entertainment, your VF8 becomes a movie theater for all occupants. If the vehicle is parked, you can watch up to 2,000 different Sony movies and TV shows right on the in-car display. While driving, passengers can use the in-car WiFi to access the RIDEVU app on their phone, tablet, or laptop to watch content. Another fact is that there is less noise and distractions from passengers, which also drastically reduces the number of accidents on the roads.
