Is Leasing A New VinFast A Better Decision Than Buying A Used Luxury Car?

Lease a VinFast Luxury EV Today

Lease a VinFast Luxury EV TodayOne of the smartest buying decisions one can make is to get a used luxury car. You gain by getting a newer car with lots of comfort and features while getting it at a more affordable price. While that’s a wise decision, it is even wiser to take advantage of the lease offers from VinFast for the VF8 and VF9, as no other car offers more for less. Let’s dive in.

VinFast VF8 Lineup in Motion on the RoadThere’s More to Saving Money Than Just the Purchase Price

When buying a used luxury car, you’ll be able to save tens of thousands of dollars, but, unless you’re buying a car with an extra warranty, your new-to-you vehicle will have a warranty that is either soon to expire or has already expired. The major luxury brands, such as Acura, Audi, BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz, only have a 4-year, 50,000-mile warranty. Infiniti has a 4-year, 60,000-mile warranty, though. Still, these all pale in comparison to the 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper and 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranties that VinFast offers customers.

VinFast VF8 Plus Interior Dash ViewCurrent VinFast Lease Offers

VinFast is offering customers a brand new 2025 VF8 for just $299 per month for 24 months or the VF9 for only $499 per month for 24 months. Neither vehicle requires a down payment, unlike all other car manufacturers’ leases. VinFast is also giving buyers a free VinFast Level 2 home charger, a $600 savings. We covered how brilliant and easy the charger is in a previous article. For a VF8, you’ll spend a little over $7,000 over the period of a 2-year lease and around $12,000 for a VF9. Those values alone are less than what you’ll spend on depreciation and maintenance on a gas-powered luxury car over the same period.

VinFast Sony RideVu on the Infotainment SystemExpensive When New Means Expensive to Maintain

While buying a used luxury car saves you money, you have to determine how long you’re willing to keep this car. A car that costs $80,000 or more new will still need parts that are made for an $80,000 car, not the depreciated price you paid for it. When factoring in parts and labor, something as simple as suspension components can easily cost you thousands of dollars for a BMW 5-Series, and since most cars have turbos these days, there’s another expensive part or set of parts to fix when they go bad. Even though saving thousands of dollars can feel great at first, you may only have your car for 20,000 or so miles when you could possibly have a catastrophic failure happen.

Current Used Car Interest Rates

Should we even discuss interest rates on used car purchases right now? Depending on your credit score, Nerd Wallet shows the national average APR for a used car loan is anywhere from 7.67% for someone with an 800 credit score, all the way up to 21.81% with a 500 credit score.

VinFast VF8 ChargingA Much Simpler Maintenance Schedule

When leasing a brand new VF8 or VF9, there are no oil changes or regularly scheduled maintenance for the most part. Thanks to regenerative braking, EV brake pads and rotors last quite a bit longer than gas-powered cars. It is recommended that you still have your tires rotated every 7,500 miles and, at that point, have the technician check the battery system, coolant, brakes, and the like. And with the VinFast mobile app, you can schedule your service appointments and then check your car’s status while it’s in for service.

What Information to Take with You

So, what have we learned? A used luxury car can be a good financial decision over buying the same car new. However, with current lease rates, warranty coverage, and the fact that used car rates are insanely high, there has never been a better time to save thousands of dollars by leasing a luxury EV like the VF8 or VF9.

Why You Should Buy an EV

VinFast VF8 Plus Driver Front View

VinFast VF8 Plus Driver Front ViewFor most car buyers, there is almost no real reason why they can’t or shouldn’t buy an EV. Ten years ago, there weren’t as many charging stations, there weren’t a ton of options outside of a Tesla, and range anxiety was still a thing. However, with companies like VinFast offering luxury EV experiences at a modest cost, there has never been a better time to buy or lease an electric vehicle.

VinFast VF8 Plus Navigation and Apple CarPlayThere’s Nothing Like a VinFast

As we have covered many times, the VinFast VF8 and VF9 offer some of the best bang for the buck when it comes to features, style, and luxury for the price. The mobile app is especially great, as you can use it to pay at nearly all charging stations. Most other cars require you to store your credit card information in the charging company’s mobile app.

Driving Range

Both VinFast models also have good driving range, with the VF8 able to travel up to 264 miles in the Eco trim and 243 miles in the Plus. The VF9 will get drivers 330 miles in the base Eco and 291 miles in the Plus. The days of range anxiety are pretty much over, as it’s very easy to find a charging station. If you are traveling cross-country, the navigation system will keep charging in mind as it maps your route.

VinFast VF8 Interior View with HUDHead-Up Display Is Standard

Unlike most cars currently on the market, all VinFast vehicles come standard with a HUD, or Head-Up Display, which shows you your driving range, media information, current speed, and navigation settings. Some luxury EVs offer this as an option on higher trim levels, but even the base VinFast Eco models provide it for free.

Driving An EV Is Proven to Keep You Calm

Driving down the road in an EV is a more peaceful experience than riding in a noisy gas-powered car. EVs are engineered to let less wind and harsh road noise into the cabin, and multiple studies show that drivers often report being calmer and more relaxed in their EV, even when in bumper-to-bumper traffic. Have you ever been chipper while only being able to creep along at five mph on the highway on your way to work or back home? Well, EV owners say they are.

VinFast VF9 Front Side ViewBest Features

Some of the best features of a VinFast are features like Camp Mode, which allows you to keep the interior at a specific temperature while you sit in the vehicle for whatever reason. You could be using the in-car WiFi to do work, make phone calls, have a video meeting, or actually camp out in your car. Other features include Pet Mode, which allows you to leave your car with your pet(s) safely inside with air conditioning or heat running and a message on the 15.6-inch infotainment screen that lets passers-by know that your four-legged baby is safe and that you will be right back.

VinFast Sony RideVu Front DashSony RIDEVU

The most unique feature of any EV, and even more special since it’s currently only available on VinFast vehicles, is Sony RIDEVU. Sony RIDEVU allows the vehicle’s occupants to watch 2,000 movies and TV shows in the Sony Pictures Entertainment library and archives. If the car is in park, content can be shown on the infotainment screen, or users can stream content on their phone, tablet, or laptop when hooked to the in-car WiFi.

The World’s Best Warranty

By far, though, the absolute best reason to buy a VinFast is the world-class warranty that no one else offers. A 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty ensure that your VF8 or VF9 is protected for many years to come without you ever having to worry.

The VinFast VF8 Is a Primetime Player

2025 VinFast VF8 Front View

2025 VinFast VF8 Front ViewThe VinFast VF8 is shining a light on the EV world. You don’t need to be a long-established automaker to make a great car—you can provide buyers with excellent service just by listening and paying attention to their wants and needs. This is how VinFast has become a respected EV brand so quickly.

2025 VinFast VF8 Charging PortA New Review of the VinFast VF8

In a recent test by Driving, the VF8 was lauded as a car that has evolved wonderfully since its first initial media test to current. The reviewer said that VinFast has made “a big improvement” in reference to the brushed aluminum and leather-like interior trim that make the car feel more luxurious and plush, as well as the higher quality door pockets that add extra space.

VinFast VF8 TouchscreenAn Excellent App and Special Modes

When talking about some of the positives that make the VF8 a quality buy for those looking at getting their first-ever EV (or their tenth), the reviewer highlighted the many modes that allow you to have great control of your VinFast and enjoy it in many different scenarios, plus the easy-to-use mobile app, saying, “Another positive is four special modes: Camp, Pet, Valet, and Wash. Camp mode allows you to use the infotainment system, plug into the USB and 12-volt outlets, and maintain a comfortable cabin temperature while sleeping in the vehicle when the car is parked, such as while charging. Pet mode keeps the cabin at a comfortable temperature and displays a message on the screen that your pet is safe. Valet mode restricts functions like climate control and infotainment. And Wash mode prepares the vehicle for going through a car wash. There’s also a good Vinfast app that shows vehicle status, manages charging, and provides updates, appointments, and invitations.”

VinFast VF8 Panoramic RoofMore Luxury Features than Normal for a “Base” Model

The model tested was the base Eco trim level, which included vegan leather seats, 12-way driver and 10-way passenger adjustable power seats, and a 10-speaker sound system. These are all features normally reserved as options on higher trim levels for most brands. VinFast also gives drivers a standard Head-Up Display, something that (if available on another EV) is usually only on top-of-the-line trims.

Vinfast VF8 Rear Seat Charging PortsAn Interior Filled with Brilliant Technology

The interior of the VF8 features a center-mounted 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system that controls everything in the car with ease. And with standard Sony RIDEVU, passengers can enjoy using the standard in-car WiFi to watch 2,000 different movies and TV shows offered by Sony Pictures Entertainment. Any device attached to the WiFi can watch. When the vehicle is in park, the infotainment screen can also be used to watch the same content.

New VinFast VF8 Cargo SpaceThe Best Car Warranty

The key detail that everyone loves the most about VinFast is the 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty with a 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty. No other car company can match the level of warranty that VinFast offers—not even Tesla. This is why you should come down to Ewing VinFast of Plano to check out the VF8 and also the three-row all-electric VF9 that allows a family of six to experience luxury for a reasonable price.

VinFast VF8 Versus Genesis GV60

VinFast VF8 Front View Driving

VinFast VF8 Model LineupWell, folks, it’s that time again where we dive in and take a look at a rival of the new and hot VinFast VF8. This time we are going through the 2024 Genesis GV60. Does it have any secrets that it doesn’t want us to know? Like the VF8, it too is a brand new, first-generation electric vehicle.

VinFast VF8 Interior Front Cabin View from AboveThe Genesis GV60 Is Welcomed to the Ring

The Genesis GV60 comes in four different flavors, including Standard RWD, Standard AWD, Advanced AWD, and Performance AWD. The Standard RWD car features a single rear-mounted motor with 225 horsepower and 258 lb-ft, with an estimated range of 294 miles. The Standard AWD has dual motors that produce 314 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque and can drive up to 264 miles. The Advanced AWD trim can drive 248 miles and has the same exact power and torque as the Standard AWD GV60. Finally, there is the Performance AWD that has 429 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque with an estimated range of 235 miles. The GV60 can only tow 2,000 pounds, which is less than the 4,000 pounds that the VinFast is able to tow.

Vinfast VF8 Plus Navigation and Apple CarPlayRidiculous Pricing

For 2024 the Standard RWD has a base MSRP of $53,700—more than the price of a fully loaded top-of-the-line VinFast VF8 Plus trim. Also, something that’s very odd: the GV60 comes in eight different colors—and seven of them cost $650 extra. The only free color for any of the trim levels is Alta White. Even the top-of-the-line Performance AWD that starts at $71,250 forces you to pay for any color other than Alta White. How weird is that?

VinFast VF8 Plus Front End Grille Headlight ViewEnter the Reining Champ, the VF8

So, as previously mentioned, the base Genesis is more costly than the fully loaded price of the VF8. The VinFast is available in just two trims to keep the confusion and guessing game out of buying your VF8. The VF8 Eco has a base price of $47,325, and the Plus trim starts at $51,800. Both VF8 trims have dual motors with 87.7-kWh batteries that give Eco models 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque and 402 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque for the Plus trims. Also, unlike the Genesis, and most other EVs, the VinFast comes standard with all-wheel drive. The EPA says drivers can expect 264 miles for Eco models and 243 miles for Plus models between charges. While some of the GV60 trims are clearly more performance-oriented, the VF8 isn’t exactly slow. It will get to 60 mph in just 5.9 or 5.5 seconds for the Eco and Plus, respectively.

VinFast VF8 Frunk ViewInterior and Frunk Space

When it comes to interior space, the VF8 features 13.2 cu-ft of space behind the second row of seats and 48.4 when they’re folded. The Genesis, however, wins this battle with 24 cu-ft behind the second row and 54.7 cu-ft with the rear seats folded. But, the VinFast makes up for that with 2.7 cu-ft of space in the front trunk, or frunk area. The GV60 has just 0.7 cu-ft. This also shows something else that’s interesting. The Genesis has 10.8 more cubes of space behind the rear seats, but only 6.3 when the rear seats are folded? That means that Genesis has some inefficiencies when it comes to the interior layout’s usable space.

VinFast VF8 AirbagsLeasing a VinFast Is Way More Cost Effective

No matter what you think of the Genesis GV60, it falls through the floor when you compare price and value. Buyers can walk into Ewing VinFast of Plano right now and lease a VF8 Eco for just $199 per month for 36 months with $0 down and 10,000 miles per year. For only $249 per month, you can get the top-of-the-line Plus trim. Oh, and VinFast offers a 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty with a 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty. You can still lease the GV60, of course, but it will cost you $721 per month for 36 months, with $0 down. Or, if you put down $5,999, you can save a little bit of money and only pay $646 per month for the same terms as the VinFast. Worse yet, Genesis only offers a 5-year, 60,000-mile standard warranty with an extra 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain/battery warranty.

VinFast VF8 Front View DrivingPerception Clouds Your Judgement

Let’s be real for a second. Can the Genesis GV60 really be so good that you would be willing to pay over three times more per month than for the VinFast? Is it worth it? I have to tell you, I have never walked into a store and asked to be charged more just because I thought the product might be better. If someone tells you that a ribeye steak is priced higher than chuck because it’s inherently better, he or she is either lying to you or just doesn’t know how to cook meat. Any good chef will tell you that, when prepared properly, a good cut of chuck can absolutely rival any other expensive piece of meat you have ever enjoyed. Perception is what drives us to think about value. VinFast doesn’t feel the need to overcharge you for a perception.

Leasing A VinFast VF8 vs Luxury Crossover

New VinFast VF8 Front View Lakeside

New VinFast VF8 Front View LakesideLeasing an electric vehicle is one of the smartest decisions a buyer can make when looking to get a new car. We have discussed before why leasing an EV makes sense in general, especially a VinFast VF8. Electric Vehicle technology is advancing at an amazing rate, and leasing can help keep you at the forefront of innovation.

New VinFast VF8 Touchscreen

Luxury Brands Are Nice, But Too Costly

One of the reasons leasing can be good is because leased vehicles typically have a lower monthly payment, especially for the VF8. Brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and the like work hard to convince buyers that they have everything customers need. However, all that glitters is not gold, as some vehicles will start from $50,000 and will quickly cost $70,000 just with a few simple options. Each of those brands has lease offers that are above $400 and $500 per month for base cars with thousands of dollars down before you can drive away. This is not the case with the VinFast VF8, as you can choose between the Eco and Plus that retail for $47,325 and $51,800, respectively, with most features and luxuries being standard equipment.

A Starting Price with Most Features Standard

For just $199 per month for 36 months, the VF8 makes an excellent case for being the best luxury vehicle on the market for the price. Unlike many cars that buyers would compare to the VF8, the VinFast comes standard with more features than almost anything else, such as a Head-Up Display, all-wheel drive, a dual-motor battery, and a towing capacity of up to 4,000 lbs, which is more than the standard capacity on the Volkswagen ID.4, Hyundai Ioniq 5, BMW iX, and more.

2024 VinFast VF8 ChargingSpeed and Range

The VinFast VF8 is also pretty fast for a luxury crossover that isn’t about performance. It will get from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds and has a range of 264 miles, which is faster than the 8.5-second Mercedes-Benz EQB, which also only has 251 miles of driving range.

Trim Levels, Power, and Charging

The VF8 is available in two different trim levels, the Eco and Plus. The Eco model has a 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, while the Plus model puts out 402 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque. Both vehicles feature an 87.7 kWh electric motor that drives all four wheels and can be charged from 10% to 70% in just 31 minutes on a Level 3 DC fast charger. Buyers can opt for the $599 VinFast Home Charger, which is hardwired to your breaker box and will output 250 volts and 50 amps.

New VinFast VF8 Front Side ViewThe Best Lease Offers and Warranties Around

VinFast is offering the VinFast VF8 Eco for $199 per month for 36 months with $0 down or the Plus for just $249 for 36 months with $0 down. Both vehicles can be driven 10,000 miles per year without incurring any extra fees. Both models also come standard with a 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty, which is far and away the best battery warranty of any vehicle currently for sale.
