Is VinFast Owned By The Chinese and Other Top Questions

VinFast SUV Crossover Lineup

VinFast SUV Crossover LineupWhile we have covered various frequently asked questions in earlier blog posts, some still have some lingering questions. While VinFast has been around since 2017, it is still a young company with lots of growth on the horizon. The company’s most significant advantage is in its plans to create buyer confidence through a great vehicle, the best battery warranty, a stellar phone app experience, an easier way to pay for charging, and more. Let’s answer some of the most asked questions on Google about VinFast.

VinFast Vietnam ProductionIs VinFast a Chinese Company?

No, VinFast is not a company based out of or headquartered in China. VinFast is a Vietnamese car company that provides beautiful and advanced cars for all types of buyers around the world. One of the company’s main focuses is on the United States. Vietnam is a very friendly country to the United States and one of the best business allies to the U.S. in Asia. According to the U.S. State Department, the United States and Vietnam’s bilateral trade partnership has increased significantly from just $451 million in 1995 to $124 billion as of 2023.

Is VinFast a Luxury Car?

In the United States, VinFast is indeed a luxury car. In Vietnam, the company makes vehicles of all sizes and all price points. In the US, VinFast exclusively manufactures and sells luxury EVs that offer a great electric experience while being supremely less expensive than the competition.

VinFast VF8 Charging at HomeDoes VinFast Only Make EVs?

Yes, as of right now for American buyers. While there are no current plans to offer anything other than electric VinFast cars in this country, anything is possible since the company used to offer a range of gas-powered automobiles in Vietnam.

How Much Does a VinFast Vehicle Cost?

VinFast currently offers two different vehicles for customers: the VF8 crossover and the three-row VF9 SUV. The VF8 starts at $47,200 for the base Eco trim and $53,000 for the top Plus trim, and the VF9 is offered at $75,000 for the Plus model. All models also qualify for the $7,500 EV tax credit whether you decide to purchase or lease your VinFast.

VinFast offers incredible lease pricing on both cars, too. A VF8 Eco costs only $279 per month, and the Plus costs $329 per month. Both are for 24-month leases with $0 down and 10,000 miles per year. Customers can lease the VF9 Plus for $599 per month for 24 months with $0 down and 10,000 miles per year.

While both SUVs VinFast offers aren’t meant to be the speediest of EVs on the road, they are pretty quick, especially when starting from a dead stop, as electric cars have zero lag when you push the accelerator pedal compared to an internal combustion engine car.

The VF8 Eco, with 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, can get to 60 mph in only 5.9 seconds, while the Plus model, with its 53 extra horsepower and 88 more torque, will hustle to 60 in less than 5.5 seconds.

The VF9, a larger three-row SUV with 402 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque, will sprint to 60 mph in about 6.5 seconds. That may not seem extremely fast, but it is a lot faster than the gas and hybrid versions of the three-row Toyota Grand Highlander, which will do the same deed in 8.3 and 7.8 seconds, respectively.

What Makes a VinFast Special?

There are a number of features that make VinFast vehicles special, from the Pininfarina-designed exteriors on both SUVs to the intelligent smartphone app that allows you to schedule and track maintenance on your vehicle. You can also pay to charge your VinFast on almost every charging company’s charger without downloading their standalone apps and adding your credit card information.

Another feature that makes the VinFast VF8 and VF9 special is the inclusion of Sony RIDEVU, which is standard on all cars without a subscription and isn’t offered anywhere else. When sitting in a VinFast, you and your passengers can watch 2,000 movies and shows owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment on the 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen when parked or on any device attached to the vehicle’s in-car WiFi system.

Unlike any other EV on the market, every VinFast comes with a 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty with an industry-leading 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty. No other company offers such a confidence-inspiring warranty.

Leasing A VinFast VF8 vs Luxury Crossover

New VinFast VF8 Front View Lakeside

New VinFast VF8 Front View LakesideLeasing an electric vehicle is one of the smartest decisions a buyer can make when looking to get a new car. We have discussed before why leasing an EV makes sense in general, especially a VinFast VF8. Electric Vehicle technology is advancing at an amazing rate, and leasing can help keep you at the forefront of innovation.

Luxury Brands Are Nice, But Too Costly

One of the reasons leasing can be good is because leased vehicles typically have a lower monthly payment, especially for the VF8. Brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and the like work hard to convince buyers that they have everything customers need. However, all that glitters is not gold, as some vehicles will start from $50,000 and will quickly cost $70,000 just with a few simple options. Each of those brands has lease offers that are above $400 and $500 per month for base cars with thousands of dollars down before you can drive away. This is not the case with the VinFast VF8, as you can choose between the Eco and Plus that retail for $47,325 and $51,800, respectively, with most features and luxuries being standard equipment.

A Starting Price with Most Features Standard

For just $199 per month for 36 months, the VF8 makes an excellent case for being the best luxury vehicle on the market for the price. Unlike many cars that buyers would compare to the VF8, the VinFast comes standard with more features than almost anything else, such as a Head-Up Display, all-wheel drive, a dual-motor battery, and a towing capacity of up to 4,000 lbs, which is more than the standard capacity on the Volkswagen ID.4, Hyundai Ioniq 5, BMW iX, and more.

The VinFast VF8 is also pretty fast for a luxury crossover that isn’t about performance. It will get from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds and has a range of 264 miles, which is faster than the 8.5-second Mercedes-Benz EQB, which also only has 251 miles of driving range.

Trim Levels, Power, and Charging

The VF8 is available in two different trim levels, the Eco and Plus. The Eco model has a 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, while the Plus model puts out 402 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque. Both vehicles feature an 87.7 kWh electric motor that drives all four wheels and can be charged from 10% to 70% in just 31 minutes on a Level 3 DC fast charger. Buyers can opt for the $599 VinFast Home Charger, which is hardwired to your breaker box and will output 250 volts and 50 amps.

Both models also come standard with a 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty, which is far and away the best battery warranty of any vehicle currently for sale.
