EV Charging Infrastructure Is Quietly, Steadily Growing

VinFast VF8 Plus Charging at a Home Charger

VinFast VF9 - Charging Network is GrowingThe biggest EV hurdle—access to convenient and reliable public chargers—has been quietly improving, with numbers increasing faster than in previous years. Paren is a data analytics company that monitors the growth of public charging stations. It shows that multiple charging networks are on track to add 3,000 more DC fast charging stations in 2025 compared to 2024. Ewing Vinfast provides some details.

The year 2024 was significant for public charger growth, but the process encountered some obstacles, including permitting and charger vandalism. Although many thought this would slow down or stop charger expansion, it now seems these were more like speed bumps than roadblocks. Charger companies have found solutions to the problems and are now making progress.

VinFast VF8 Plus Charging at a Home Charger

Paren chief analyst Loren McDonald sees signs of things changing for the better. “The fast-charging industry is deploying new [DC fast-charging] ports and stations at its highest pace ever in the U.S.,” McDonald posted on LinkedIn this week. “Don’t believe the FUD (Fear Uncertainty and Doubt). The charging industry is moving full speed ahead, building larger, higher-power stations with amenities, greater reliability, and a better customer experience.”

One ominous sign occurred in April 2024 when Elon Musk seemingly impulsively fired his entire Supercharger team. Ironically, the incident happened just as many EV manufacturers were pledging to adopt Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) port in future vehicles, supply NACS adaptors for their current EV models, and thus increase business at Tesla Supercharger stations. The adapters had a shaky start but are now becoming readily available, and the Supercharger side of the business appears to be a major growth opportunity.

McDonald points to more companies building charging networks, including automakers like Mercedes-Benz and Rivian. It is possibly analogous to the early sixties when electronics manufacturers helped support color production for TV shows to boost color TV sales.

Additionally, companies focused on highway travel, such as Pilot/Flying J truck stops, Buc-ees, and Walmart—which simply have locations everywhere—see opportunities and are adding charging stations. This expansion is also coming from dedicated charging firms like Ionna and BP Pulse. Another development is that you are starting to see more amenities at these locations, including covered areas, bathrooms, and even customer lounges. McDonald calls this the “Charging 2.0” era and believes it could lead to a bigger growth leap than what the industry has experienced so far.

No manufacturer wanted to fall behind in the EV transition, and that may have led to more vehicles being produced before the infrastructure could support them—but now the infrastructure is catching up. Meanwhile, multiple studies show that EV owners rarely go back to gas-powered vehicles, which is a positive sign for the industry and indicates a steady, long-term flow of charging customers even without sharp increases in EV sales.

  VinFast VF8 On the Road

Of course, this only matters when EV owners decide to travel. For everyday use, nothing beats a Level 2 charger at home, where you can charge when you get back and head out each day with 200 to 300 miles or more at your disposal. See why EV owners don’t want to go back by checking out our attractive VF8 and VF9 models, and find out how you can get a free Level 2 VinFast home charger at Ewing VinFast.

Is Leasing A New VinFast A Better Decision Than Buying A Used Luxury Car?

Lease a VinFast Luxury EV Today

Lease a VinFast Luxury EV TodayOne of the smartest buying decisions one can make is to get a used luxury car. You gain by getting a newer car with lots of comfort and features while getting it at a more affordable price. While that’s a wise decision, it is even wiser to take advantage of the lease offers from VinFast for the VF8 and VF9, as no other car offers more for less. Let’s dive in.

VinFast VF8 Lineup in Motion on the RoadThere’s More to Saving Money Than Just the Purchase Price

When buying a used luxury car, you’ll be able to save tens of thousands of dollars, but, unless you’re buying a car with an extra warranty, your new-to-you vehicle will have a warranty that is either soon to expire or has already expired. The major luxury brands, such as Acura, Audi, BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz, only have a 4-year, 50,000-mile warranty. Infiniti has a 4-year, 60,000-mile warranty, though. Still, these all pale in comparison to the 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper and 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranties that VinFast offers customers.

VinFast VF8 Plus Interior Dash ViewCurrent VinFast Lease Offers

VinFast is offering customers a brand new 2025 VF8 for just $299 per month for 24 months or the VF9 for only $499 per month for 24 months. Neither vehicle requires a down payment, unlike all other car manufacturers’ leases. VinFast is also giving buyers a free VinFast Level 2 home charger, a $600 savings. We covered how brilliant and easy the charger is in a previous article. For a VF8, you’ll spend a little over $7,000 over the period of a 2-year lease and around $12,000 for a VF9. Those values alone are less than what you’ll spend on depreciation and maintenance on a gas-powered luxury car over the same period.

VinFast Sony RideVu on the Infotainment SystemExpensive When New Means Expensive to Maintain

While buying a used luxury car saves you money, you have to determine how long you’re willing to keep this car. A car that costs $80,000 or more new will still need parts that are made for an $80,000 car, not the depreciated price you paid for it. When factoring in parts and labor, something as simple as suspension components can easily cost you thousands of dollars for a BMW 5-Series, and since most cars have turbos these days, there’s another expensive part or set of parts to fix when they go bad. Even though saving thousands of dollars can feel great at first, you may only have your car for 20,000 or so miles when you could possibly have a catastrophic failure happen.

Current Used Car Interest Rates

Should we even discuss interest rates on used car purchases right now? Depending on your credit score, Nerd Wallet shows the national average APR for a used car loan is anywhere from 7.67% for someone with an 800 credit score, all the way up to 21.81% with a 500 credit score.

VinFast VF8 ChargingA Much Simpler Maintenance Schedule

When leasing a brand new VF8 or VF9, there are no oil changes or regularly scheduled maintenance for the most part. Thanks to regenerative braking, EV brake pads and rotors last quite a bit longer than gas-powered cars. It is recommended that you still have your tires rotated every 7,500 miles and, at that point, have the technician check the battery system, coolant, brakes, and the like. And with the VinFast mobile app, you can schedule your service appointments and then check your car’s status while it’s in for service.

What Information to Take with You

So, what have we learned? A used luxury car can be a good financial decision over buying the same car new. However, with current lease rates, warranty coverage, and the fact that used car rates are insanely high, there has never been a better time to save thousands of dollars by leasing a luxury EV like the VF8 or VF9.

Why You Should Buy an EV

VinFast VF8 Plus Driver Front View

VinFast VF8 Plus Driver Front ViewFor most car buyers, there is almost no real reason why they can’t or shouldn’t buy an EV. Ten years ago, there weren’t as many charging stations, there weren’t a ton of options outside of a Tesla, and range anxiety was still a thing. However, with companies like VinFast offering luxury EV experiences at a modest cost, there has never been a better time to buy or lease an electric vehicle.

VinFast VF8 Plus Navigation and Apple CarPlayThere’s Nothing Like a VinFast

As we have covered many times, the VinFast VF8 and VF9 offer some of the best bang for the buck when it comes to features, style, and luxury for the price. The mobile app is especially great, as you can use it to pay at nearly all charging stations. Most other cars require you to store your credit card information in the charging company’s mobile app.

Driving Range

Both VinFast models also have good driving range, with the VF8 able to travel up to 264 miles in the Eco trim and 243 miles in the Plus. The VF9 will get drivers 330 miles in the base Eco and 291 miles in the Plus. The days of range anxiety are pretty much over, as it’s very easy to find a charging station. If you are traveling cross-country, the navigation system will keep charging in mind as it maps your route.

VinFast VF8 Interior View with HUDHead-Up Display Is Standard

Unlike most cars currently on the market, all VinFast vehicles come standard with a HUD, or Head-Up Display, which shows you your driving range, media information, current speed, and navigation settings. Some luxury EVs offer this as an option on higher trim levels, but even the base VinFast Eco models provide it for free.

Driving An EV Is Proven to Keep You Calm

Driving down the road in an EV is a more peaceful experience than riding in a noisy gas-powered car. EVs are engineered to let less wind and harsh road noise into the cabin, and multiple studies show that drivers often report being calmer and more relaxed in their EV, even when in bumper-to-bumper traffic. Have you ever been chipper while only being able to creep along at five mph on the highway on your way to work or back home? Well, EV owners say they are.

VinFast VF9 Front Side ViewBest Features

Some of the best features of a VinFast are features like Camp Mode, which allows you to keep the interior at a specific temperature while you sit in the vehicle for whatever reason. You could be using the in-car WiFi to do work, make phone calls, have a video meeting, or actually camp out in your car. Other features include Pet Mode, which allows you to leave your car with your pet(s) safely inside with air conditioning or heat running and a message on the 15.6-inch infotainment screen that lets passers-by know that your four-legged baby is safe and that you will be right back.

VinFast Sony RideVu Front DashSony RIDEVU

The most unique feature of any EV, and even more special since it’s currently only available on VinFast vehicles, is Sony RIDEVU. Sony RIDEVU allows the vehicle’s occupants to watch 2,000 movies and TV shows in the Sony Pictures Entertainment library and archives. If the car is in park, content can be shown on the infotainment screen, or users can stream content on their phone, tablet, or laptop when hooked to the in-car WiFi.

The World’s Best Warranty

By far, though, the absolute best reason to buy a VinFast is the world-class warranty that no one else offers. A 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and a 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty ensure that your VF8 or VF9 is protected for many years to come without you ever having to worry.

What About an EV Will Surprise You Over a Gas Car

VinFast VF8 Driving on the Road

VinFast VF8 Driving on the RoadAn EV can be a whole new experience for some drivers, especially when first seeing a car like the VinFast VF8 or VF9 and noticing that they look slightly different from gas-powered vehicles. EVs allow designers to be slightly more creative in various ways, especially since they don’t have to worry about cooling an engine with lots of grilles and holes. But, there are way more things about an electric car that will surprise you in good ways. Let’s take a look.

VinFast VF8 Frunk StorageAcceleration Like You’ve Never Experienced

When first getting into a VinFast, you’ll notice that there isn’t a traditional shifter, and you don’t have to put your foot on the brake to ensure the car does not roll when put into drive. Instead, you need to press the accelerator pedal to make the car move, and it will not move until you do so. There is zero lag or loss of power between the throttle pedal and the battery system. A gas car needs gas to flow into the engine, spark, and then use that as momentum to create momentum. A battery is simply on or off, and pressing the “gas” pedal initiates the “on” that moves the car. The immediate thrust felt when you fully depress the accelerator is all of the vehicle’s torque surging all at once. There is no other feeling like it, except maybe the escape velocity of a rocket heading to outer space at 25,000 miles per hour.

VinFast VF8 Charging at a Public ChargerSimple Maintenance

Now let’s talk maintenance. A VinFast, or any other electric vehicle, does not require a routine oil change every 5,000 miles. There is no oil in the cars to change, so that’s one major service you can completely forget about. An internal combustion engine needs coolant to stay cool, and because of this, you need to change that fluid at least every couple of years. However, an EV only uses coolant to keep the batteries cool, so when your car’s brought in for service, the technicians will simply check the coolant level and top up if needed. There are also fewer ways for coolant to leak from an EV than from an ICE car.

VinFast VF8 Wheel DetailBrakes Last Much Longer

Overall, an EV requires much less maintenance than a conventional gas car. For instance, the brake and power steering fluid do need to be flushed and refilled during a regular maintenance interval. You will, in turn, spend much less money because an EV’s brakes last much longer. Thanks to the technology discussed further down, the pads and rotors can last upwards of 100,000 miles.

VinFast VF8 TouchscreenRegenerative Braking

When stopping with an EV, you will notice that, like any other car, the brakes work as they should. But the brakes of an electric car do something very clever. Every time you tap the brakes in a car, you are losing kinetic energy, so engineers and scientists created a procedure where, when braking, the lost energy is captured by the car and sent to the battery to feed it that extra energy, which in turn adds to the vehicle’s range.

Couple getting into a 2025 VinFast VF9Shhh….

A big thing that first-time electric vehicle owners report is how quiet their car is. Because there is no engine that combusts and rattles, or an exhaust that sends harmful emissions out of a tailpipe, an EV is like sitting in a room when everyone’s left the house, and it’s just you sitting in a chair enjoying the silence. EVs have also been engineered to allow less wind and road noise into the cabin, further enhancing this serenity.

The World’s Best Warranty and Care

There is genuinely nothing like an electric vehicle, and especially nothing else on the market like a VinFast. With their 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and the industry’s best 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty, you will be taken care of in every way. No one protects their car more than VinFast, and it shows in how much customers love the after-sales experience.

What Is One-Pedal Driving in an EV and Why Does it Matter?

VinFast VF9 Driving in front of the Eiffel Tower

2025 VinFast VF8 DrivingIf you have driven a VinFast VF8 or VF9—or any other EV, plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), or some hybrid vehicles—you may have noticed a feature that allows you to drive with just the accelerator, meaning you rarely have to touch the brake pedal. What is this, what is it called, and why does it matter? Simply put, the feature is called one-pedal driving. Let’s take a look at why it’s good for electric cars and for you as an EV owner.

Two Pedals Become One

When you drive a vehicle with an automatic transmission, you obviously have two main pedals: the gas (also known as the throttle or accelerator pedal) and the brake. While electric cars like the VinFast VF8 and VF9 still have a brake pedal, as soon as you let off the throttle pedal the vehicle immediately begins to brake. Why is this? It’s because of one-pedal driving. The electric motor causes the car to slow down in this case, because it’s technically not being used to generate thrust or acceleration but instead to reverse the torque direction of the battery system.

VinFast VF8 Regenerative BrakingRegenerative Braking

When your VinFast starts to slow down when you let off the accelerator, the vehicle recovers some of that energy (normally lost in conventional friction braking systems) to be reused by the battery as extra charge. This is known as regenerative, or regen, braking. Regen braking can be adjusted from low to high via the 15.6-inch infotainment display. There’s also a Creep Mode. The more regen braking, the faster the car will slow down when you let off the accelerator pedal. When the system is set to the lowest regen braking, the car will coast like a normal gas-powered car. Oh, and yes, your brake lights come on even if you don’t touch the brake pedal. At any point when you have the regen braking turned up and you let off the throttle, the brake lights will illuminate.

VinFast VF8 Side ProfileAdjusting the Regen Braking

How much or how little regen braking you prefer is entirely up to you as the driver. A lot of first-time EV drivers will set the regen to the lowest setting to get used to it, because it can be alarming the first time you let off the gas pedal and the car starts slowing down instead of coasting. So, it’s best to gradually ease your way into getting comfortable with the system. You may want to turn the system down in stop-and-go traffic, where coasting could be more beneficial. Turning on Creep Mode will allow your VinFast to move forward slightly when you release the brake, like in a gas-powered car.

VinFast VF9 Interior Dash ViewDo You Really Need a Brake Pedal?

If you use one-pedal driving, then what is the brake for? Well, you still need to apply the brakes in emergency stopping situations, because while the car will come to a complete stop when you let off the accelerator, it will not do so with the same urgency as slamming on the brakes in a panic situation.
