Why Are You More Relaxed Driving An EV In Rush Hour Traffic vs ICE Cars

NYC Traffic - Driving a VinFast EV in Traffic

NYC Traffic - Driving a VinFast EV in TrafficTraffic is by far the most annoying and frustrating part of driving, especially when you’re just trying to get home from work at the end of a long day. While driving a car is freeing, especially with all the places you can go to so quickly and easily, being stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic makes many people very angry and annoyed. People tend to report that driving a vehicle with an internal combustion engine (ICE) makes them more irrational and angrier when stuck in traffic. However, people also report that they stay calmer and more composed when driving an EV like a VinFast. Why is that?

VinFast VF8 Driving on a City StreetDifferent Factors in What Creates Noise When Driving a Car

Gas-powered cars are loud and noisy. Between the engine, exhaust, wind, road, and tire noise, driving a standard car in traffic can make people run hotter under the collar. On hot days, your air conditioning can run worse, and when sitting in traffic, you may not feel as cool and relaxed. On the other hand, though, multiple studies have shown that those who drive a VinFast or other EV experience less fatigue and anger when driving an EV thanks to its comfortable seats, quiet interior, and isolated feelings from the outside traffic noise and worries.

A Big Difference in Base Noise Levels

Because of the major differences in noise between an EV and an ICE car, people are at a calmer baseline. With a gas car, the base noise level is many decibels higher, meaning that you feel like you have an annoying tone stuck in your head.

VinFast VF8 Interior CockpitThe Sound System Can Be at A More Sensible Level

Another great reason EVs make you feel calmer while driving is that you don’t have to turn the sound system up as loud to drown out the other noises. Some cars have a natural bass-heavy drone, and turning up the radio can cut down on the sound but also start to give you a headache. Or, you can have that headache listening to the drone driving down the road. Take your pick. An EV is quieter; therefore, you don’t have to turn your music up as loudly to mask or knock out other annoying drones and tones.

EVs Are Engineered To be Quieter for A Reason

For all of the advances in automotive engineering, cars are meant to allow quite a bit of noise into the cabin for various reasons. Sometimes, if the car is sporty, drivers want to hear the engine and exhaust, which means the car needs less sound deadening. However, that also means you’ll hear more natural sounds coming from the road, such as tire and wind noise. Since an EV doesn’t have an engine, engineers do not want drivers to focus on the annoyances of hearing even more of the outside world, so extra sound deadening, thicker materials, more aerodynamic mirrors, and even quieter tires are designed and developed to decrease the base levels of outside noise.

VinFast VF8 Seats Interior ViewRange Anxiety Is a Thing of the Past

Drivers used to feel more anxiety driving an EV because they were less confident in the range of the vehicle and having to find a charging station. Now, though, range anxiety isn’t experienced as much now that there are thousands more charging stations, and with the advances in battery tech, electric cars, like the VinFast VF8 and VF9, can drive farther than before.

Tailgating Without a Tailgate

VinFast Taligating

VinFast VF8 Rear Cargo SpaceTailgating at a sporting event or concert is one of the most fun things a group of friends and like-minded individuals can do. Traditionally, tailgating is done with at least one pickup truck and a cooler full of beverages. There’s food on the grill and a beach ball swirling around. Now, though, with electric vehicles like the VinFast VF8 and VF9, those who enjoy pre-gaming their favorite event can now do so—without a tailgate. EVs can power most accessories without affecting the car’s battery or using any gas.

Camp Mode for Tailgating

One of the features of the VF8 and VF9 is Camp Mode, which allows you to operate the sound system, LED lighting, Sony RIDEVU, and all of your charge ports. It also allows you to use the heater and air conditioning to keep the interior of the vehicle comfy. No matter if you’re at a professional sporting event or your kids’ weekend sports games, a VinFast will have plenty of room for all your tailgating supplies, plus the ability to haul five people.

VinFast VF8 Rear Cargo SpacePortable Coolers and Food Containers

Whether you are into the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks, Stars, or FC Dallas, tailgating in your VinFast couldn’t be easier. By picking up a portable 12v cooler/refrigerator like an ICECO or a Dometic, you can be sure that your special beverages will stay cold the entire time you’re hanging out waiting for the game to start. And if you like meats, cheeses, and crackers, $25-$30 will get you a nice on-the-go charcuterie board with a lid.

VinFast TaligatingYou’re Going to Need a Grill

Weber and Blackstone make two of the most popular travel and tailgate grills with tons of accessories. These travel nicely, taking up little space in the rear cargo area of your VinFast. The question is, do you want a grill or a griddle for game day? A griddle will allow you to cook breakfast all day, while still having a great surface for steaks, chicken, or even making Philly cheesesteaks. However, hot dogs and burgers with the classic grill marks just taste better for some reason, right? Also, are you into charcoal or are you a Hank Hill (he sells propane and propane accessories)?

VinFast VF8 SUV Frunk or Front TrunkVF8 and VF9 Cargo Space

The beauty of having a VinFast isn’t just the 13.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats of the VF8 or the 32.7 cubic feet in the VF9 when the third row is folded. No, it’s the extra 2.7 cubic feet of frunk space in the VF8 and 3.5 cubic feet in the VF9. And don’t forget, both vehicles also allow you to tow up to 4,000 pounds if you want to bring a camper with you, and they make accessories where you can hook a grill up to the tow hitch.

VinFast VF8 TailgateThe Best Warranty Around

While tailgating in an EV is certainly a fun experience, there is nothing that gets customers more excited than the ten-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and the ten-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty for all VinFast vehicles. There is no greater peace of mind.

What is the Best Way to Enjoy Your Entertainment in Your VinFast?

VinFast Sony RIDEVU

VinFast Sony RIDEVUOne of the beauties of the modern automobile is the ability to effectively stream anything you want at any time while driving down the road. More car manufacturers have opted to forgo built-in apps for services like SiriusXM, including VinFast. While this may seem shortsighted, it’s actually better for customers for a few reasons.

Streaming Is the New Way to Live

The world revolves around streaming, whether movies, TV shows, music, or podcasts; everything is streamed from a phone, tablet, computer, or television. One of the inherent downsides of streaming everything is that the 15.6-inch infotainment screen in your VinFast would be clogged up with a dozen apps. Trying to find the right app on the screen while you’re driving is unsafe. Because everyone has a smartphone with large data plans, it’s easier to let users stream the content they want via Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or Bluetooth.

Sirius XMSiriusXM Has Everything You’ll Want to Hear

Apps like SiriusXM require monthly subscriptions, featuring a whole host of popular podcasts like Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, Smartless, Call Her Daddy, and more. This, in addition to regular satellite radio channels like The Howard Stern Show, Radio Andy, Mad Dog Russo, and the like, plus all of the uninterrupted music channels and live sports shows. Because the SiriusXM app is so much easier to use, you can download various episodes or have different shows in your favorites list to quickly pull up and have ready for your upcoming drive.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

Your Favorite Podcasts Can Easily Be Streamed

Of course, podcasts are the new big thing in “radio”. While SiriusXM has made a big deal of purchasing podcasts to air, you can still get all of your favorites on Apple Podcasts, YouTube Music (the new home of Google Podcasts), Spotify, and any others you may like. Again, it’s easy and ideal to download the shows you want, ready to listen to for any of your drives.

Spotify LogoThe Ability to Quickly Access Your Favorite Shows

When using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, you can use the specific SiriusXM or preferred podcast app to quickly and easily access your favorite shows or those you downloaded.

Download For Easier Listening on the Go

We keep mentioning downloading your favorite shows and podcasts because then you won’t have to worry about any data interruptions while you’re driving down the road. So, for any reason, if your phone loses cell service, you won’t have any issues listening to your show(s).

SpotifyNumerous Phones Can Be Connected at The Same Time

Do remember, you can have multiple phones attached to the car’s Bluetooth so you can quickly jump between phones to allow other passengers to have the “aux cord”, so to speak. This will help everyone have a turn listening to something they like, and it may broaden your horizons.

Sony RIDEVU

Remember, the VinFast VF8 and VF9 also come standard with Sony RIDEVU, the revolutionary feature that allows you and your passengers to watch 2,000 different Sony Entertainment Pictures movies and shows on the vehicle’s infotainment screen when you are parked or with any device attached to the in-car WiFi system. No other automaker offers more ways to pass the time on a road trip.

How To Keep Your Car Cool In The Summer

VinFast VF8 Camping by the Lake

VinFast VF8 Side View by the LakeWe here at Ewing VinFast of Plano don’t have to tell you that summer’s almost here. With daily temperatures already hitting the high 70s and low 80s, it’s only a matter of time before the blistering heat is here to torture us. Luckily, you can easily keep cool in the depressing heat of the summer with the VF8 and VF9 thanks to some helpful tips and tricks, as well as some great features to keep you and your pets from any heat-related issues.

New VinFast VF8 ChargingKeep Your Range Up

First and foremost, always make sure to keep your battery between 20% and 80% of charge. Not only will that help keep the battery in your VinFast in tip-top shape, but it will also ensure that you aren’t worried about any range issues on hot days. Granted, EVs are actually very good in the heat and often provide excellent driving range.

VinFast VF8 Interior Drive ModesPet Mode

When your VinFast is parked, you can enable Pet Mode on the 15.6-inch infotainment screen if you are leaving your vehicle for a minute and have an animal in the vehicle. Not only will your car keep the interior at a constant, comfortable temperature for your pet(s) and your belongings, but it will also display a message on the touchscreen that lets people know that your loved one is safe, thanks to the vehicle being in Pet Mode.

VinFast VF8 Camping by the LakeCamp Mode

If you intend to sit outside while waiting for some friends, take a private phone call, or just watch a movie or TV show on Sony RIDEVU, you can turn on Camp Mode in your VF8 or VF9. This way, you can charge your devices, use the exterior and interior lights, and keep the cabin cool (or warm if you’re into that sort of thing) while you hang out and do your thing.

Reduce Heat in a Parked Car with a Solar Powered Exhaust FanA Solar-Powered Car Exhaust Fans

If you are parking your car outside and need to leave it basking in the disappointing summer sun, you can always choose to buy some solar-powered car exhaust fans. One lesson our grandparents tried to teach us was to leave our windows cracked ever so slightly on a hot day to let some of the heat escape the car while it’s sitting still. But then you run the risk of inviting different critters and bugs that may be looking to beat the heat or create a nest. Instead, an exhaust fan hangs on your car window with it closed and creates a tight seal. There are little fans inside that run to try and suck hot air out and exhaust it from the exterior of the device that is pointed outside. These will run you about $20-$40 for anywhere from 1 to 3 fans and won’t use up any of your vehicle’s battery reserves since they are solar-powered.

Is VinFast Owned By The Chinese and Other Top Questions

VinFast SUV Crossover Lineup

VinFast SUV Crossover LineupWhile we have covered various frequently asked questions in earlier blog posts, some still have some lingering questions. While VinFast has been around since 2017, it is still a young company with lots of growth on the horizon. The company’s most significant advantage is in its plans to create buyer confidence through a great vehicle, the best battery warranty, a stellar phone app experience, an easier way to pay for charging, and more. Let’s answer some of the most asked questions on Google about VinFast.

VinFast Vietnam ProductionIs VinFast a Chinese Company?

No, VinFast is not a company based out of or headquartered in China. VinFast is a Vietnamese car company that provides beautiful and advanced cars for all types of buyers around the world. One of the company’s main focuses is on the United States. Vietnam is a very friendly country to the United States and one of the best business allies to the U.S. in Asia. According to the U.S. State Department, the United States and Vietnam’s bilateral trade partnership has increased significantly from just $451 million in 1995 to $124 billion as of 2023.

Is VinFast a Luxury Car?

In the United States, VinFast is indeed a luxury car. In Vietnam, the company makes vehicles of all sizes and all price points. In the US, VinFast exclusively manufactures and sells luxury EVs that offer a great electric experience while being supremely less expensive than the competition.

VinFast VF8 Charging at HomeDoes VinFast Only Make EVs?

Yes, as of right now for American buyers. While there are no current plans to offer anything other than electric VinFast cars in this country, anything is possible since the company used to offer a range of gas-powered automobiles in Vietnam.

How Much Does a VinFast Vehicle Cost?

VinFast currently offers two different vehicles for customers: the VF8 crossover and the three-row VF9 SUV. The VF8 starts at $47,200 for the base Eco trim and $53,000 for the top Plus trim, and the VF9 is offered at $75,000 for the Plus model. All models also qualify for the $7,500 EV tax credit whether you decide to purchase or lease your VinFast.

VinFast offers incredible lease pricing on both cars, too. A VF8 Eco costs only $279 per month, and the Plus costs $329 per month. Both are for 24-month leases with $0 down and 10,000 miles per year. Customers can lease the VF9 Plus for $599 per month for 24 months with $0 down and 10,000 miles per year.

VinFast VF9 Side Profile View of the Family EV SUVHow Fast is a VinFast Car?

While both SUVs VinFast offers aren’t meant to be the speediest of EVs on the road, they are pretty quick, especially when starting from a dead stop, as electric cars have zero lag when you push the accelerator pedal compared to an internal combustion engine car.

The VF8 Eco, with 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, can get to 60 mph in only 5.9 seconds, while the Plus model, with its 53 extra horsepower and 88 more torque, will hustle to 60 in less than 5.5 seconds.

The VF9, a larger three-row SUV with 402 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque, will sprint to 60 mph in about 6.5 seconds. That may not seem extremely fast, but it is a lot faster than the gas and hybrid versions of the three-row Toyota Grand Highlander, which will do the same deed in 8.3 and 7.8 seconds, respectively.

What Makes a VinFast Special?

There are a number of features that make VinFast vehicles special, from the Pininfarina-designed exteriors on both SUVs to the intelligent smartphone app that allows you to schedule and track maintenance on your vehicle. You can also pay to charge your VinFast on almost every charging company’s charger without downloading their standalone apps and adding your credit card information.

Another feature that makes the VinFast VF8 and VF9 special is the inclusion of Sony RIDEVU, which is standard on all cars without a subscription and isn’t offered anywhere else. When sitting in a VinFast, you and your passengers can watch 2,000 movies and shows owned by Sony Pictures Entertainment on the 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen when parked or on any device attached to the vehicle’s in-car WiFi system.

Unlike any other EV on the market, every VinFast comes with a 10-year, 125,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty with an industry-leading 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty. No other company offers such a confidence-inspiring warranty.
