The Right Tires For Your VinFast

When looking to buy new tires for your VinFast, there are a number of factors to take into consideration. Pretty much every major tire brand makes an EV-specific tire, and while some will tell you there’s some marketing magic behind selling EV tires, there are some good reasons to buy them over a normal set of tires.

Carmakers and Their Relationships to Tire Companies

Car companies are beginning to work with tire manufacturers to produce model-specific tires for their cars, and VinFast has undoubtedly gone through rigorous testing to know which tires are the best for the VF8 and VF9. The biggest thing to keep in mind when tire shopping is to look at tires that will carry the load of your car. There is data to support that an EV can go through tires up to 20% faster than a standard car, which is why it’s imperative to choose a tire that supports your car’s load rating. One new type of tire that may be beneficial to some owners is High Load (HL) tires. High Load tires are becoming part of the new standard tires for certain EVs as they can handle more of a vehicle’s overall load. Hl means that it will handle the vehicle’s curb weight plus everything it carries, i.e., passengers, luggage, etc. The VF8 has a tire load index of 103, which means that each tire, when filled to its max psi, can carry 1,929 lbs per tire. Multiply that by four, and you have tires that can handle 7,716 lbs. The VF8 weighs about 5,800 lbs, which means it can carry an extra 1,916 lbs worth of people and stuff. However, that weight can add up quickly.

Why Do EVs Have Less Road Noise?

In general, EVs actually have less road and harsh noises entering the cabin when driving down the road than cars with an internal combustion engine. One of the main reasons why automakers and tire companies want you to buy EV-specific tires is because they are engineered to have lower rolling resistance and allow less road noise into the cabin with a feature called Noise Reduction Technology. This involves tire companies like Goodyear, Michelin, Continental, and more, insulating the tire so that it’s less hollow and/or has different tread patterns, therefore reducing vibrations.

What About UHP Tires?

When it’s time to get new tires for your VF8 or VF9, you should take caution before buying performance-oriented EV tires. There are various electric cars that can benefit from having Ultra-High Performance (UHP) tires. However, many EVs, like VinFast models, don’t really need them, as they can lower the efficiency of your car through extra rolling resistance. Hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and non-performance-oriented EVs do come standard with low-rolling-resistance tires to maximize the vehicle’s fuel mileage or electric range.

So, Which Tires Should You Buy?

While you can try new and different tires for your VinFast, it’s typically best to stick with the same tires that came with your VinFast vehicle at purchase.

What About an EV Will Surprise You Over a Gas Car

An EV can be a whole new experience for some drivers, especially when first seeing a car like the VinFast VF8 or VF9 and noticing that they look slightly different from gas-powered vehicles. EVs allow designers to be slightly more creative in various ways, especially since they don’t have to worry about cooling an engine with lots of grilles and holes. But, there are way more things about an electric car that will surprise you in good ways. Let’s take a look.

Acceleration Like You’ve Never Experienced

When first getting into a VinFast, you’ll notice that there isn’t a traditional shifter, and you don’t have to put your foot on the brake to ensure the car does not roll when put into drive. Instead, you need to press the accelerator pedal to make the car move, and it will not move until you do so. There is zero lag or loss of power between the throttle pedal and the battery system. A gas car needs gas to flow into the engine, spark, and then use that as momentum to create momentum. A battery is simply on or off, and pressing the “gas” pedal initiates the “on” that moves the car. Simple Maintenance

Now let’s talk maintenance. A VinFast, or any other electric vehicle, does not require a routine oil change every 5,000 miles. There is no oil in the cars to change, so that’s one major service you can completely forget about. An internal combustion engine needs coolant to stay cool, and because of this, you need to change that fluid at least every couple of years. However, an EV only uses coolant to keep the batteries cool, so when your car’s brought in for service, the technicians will simply check the coolant level and top up if needed. There are also fewer ways for coolant to leak from an EV than from an ICE car.

Brakes Last Much Longer

Overall, an EV requires much less maintenance than a conventional gas car. For instance, the brake and power steering fluid do need to be flushed and refilled during a regular maintenance interval. You will, in turn, spend much less money because an EV’s brakes last much longer. Thanks to the technology discussed further down, the pads and rotors can last upwards of 100,000 miles.

Regenerative Braking

When stopping with an EV, you will notice that, like any other car, the brakes work as they should. But the brakes of an electric car do something very clever. Every time you tap the brakes in a car, you are losing kinetic energy, so engineers and scientists created a procedure where, when braking, the lost energy is captured by the car and sent to the battery to feed it that extra energy, which in turn adds to the vehicle’s range.

A big thing that first-time electric vehicle owners report is how quiet their car is. VinFast Drgnfly e-Bike is A Great Urban Runaround

The new VinFast Drgnfly e-bike is a unique vehicle offered by VinFast. It is the perfect companion for those who enjoy using their VF8 and VF9 to travel to more remote places or small beach towns where an e-bike is the ideal form of transportation with friends.

What’s an e-Bike?

For those that don’t know, an e-Bike is simply a bicycle with a small electric motor attached to assist the rider with extra power and performance. So, you can pedal the bike as usual and use the motor to ride around without using pedals when you’re ready for a relaxing ride.

What Is the New VinFast Drgnfly?

The new VinFast Drgonfly features a continuous 750-watt motor integrated in the rear wheel and a 48-volt 14Ah battery that can be recharged in under 6 hours. Weighing in at only 70.5 lbs, the e-Bike is made from aircraft-grade aluminum with wide handlebars and balloon tires that are 20×4-inches for optimal riding comfort and stability.
